The 1st Watch (Evening Watch): 6pm - 9pm
One of the first things I learned regarding the 4 Watches of the Night is that if we consider ourselves ‘In the truth,’ then we should take to heart 1 Thessalonians 5:16, which says: ‘Pray without ceasing.’
I’ve heard some people say: ‘How can I pray without ceasing? I have things to do. I have to work.’ That scripture does not mean that Yahuah expects us to be on our knees continually praying 24/7. Even Daniel could not do that. There were things he was required to do, even though he was maintained in a palace under the charity of King Nebuchadnezzar.
Rather, I believe Paul was saying that when we learn the benefit of the Watches and Hours, and choose to participate as often as we are called; then we would indeed be praying without ceasing, and thus achieve a ‘prayer-full’ life.
I frequently speak on the rhythm of Yahuah’s Heavenly Calendar, and His 6-7-8 algorithm established at the Creation. His calendar, when observed and followed correctly, fulfills Genesis 1:14 perfectly; and His Creation Algorithm teaches us how we are to come before Him in pure worship. The 4 Watches of the Night, and the 12 Hours of the Day, demonstrate perfectly the life and ministry of Yahuah’s Salvation, Yahusha, HaMashiach. They break down in hourly increments, how to live a prayerful, intercessory life. I’m enjoying learning daily about Yahuah’s all-encompassing Time Clock.
The Watches, and The Hours
The ministry of Yahusha is reflected in the Hours of the Day. They include his miracles, lessons and parables, establishing the protocol for coming before Yahuah with reverence, examples of discernment and casting out unclean spirits, preparation of the body and Ruach through fasting and prayer, speaking boldly, and his willingness to stand in the breach for others. In the end, He demonstrated how to intercede for others, and be obedient to the will of Yahuah, even unto death. Through it all, one theme was evident: He prayed, unceasingly.
Yahuah willing, I will delve more into the Hours of the Day during the August 2026 blogs.
Regarding the Night Watches, there are certain conditions that exist that we must accept, be prepared for, and learn to countermand through bold prayer; for that is our commission as Commandment Keepers, as Natsariym, as Watchers.
During the watches of the night, we are to pray for ourselves, our families, those in need, the spiritually weak, those who are spiritually attacked in the body, in their sleep, in their mind, in their homes by those who seek to destroy and undo; entities who establish and enforce generational curses. Beings that follow, entice, attach and lead astray yourselves, and your loved ones. Who, and what are these entities? They are unclean spirits. They are the documented emissaries of HaShatan, whose domain are the night hours. We are called to pray boldly in order to form a hedge of protection. We are chosen to stand on the strength of the Covenant, and under the
