3rd Watch: Cock Crowing Watch

The 3rd Watch: 12Am to 3 am
The bible warns us that there are indeed things that ‘go bump in the night.’ We have at our disposal, scriptural evidence when these ‘things’ (or their works), are most likely to be encountered, and it is predominately during the Watches of the Night. Fortunately, the bible also gives us examples on how to combat these malevolent forces; which are unrighteous, murderous, and capable of all manner of deceit, in order to achieve their objective: which is to strike a blow at Yahuah, the Creator, at mankind's expense. We are at war. However, we should not be afraid. Yahuah is our banner, and the battle has already been won.
The attributes associated with the nighttime are so disturbing that we shun darkness with every fiber of our being.. In the past, we huddled around campfires, and turned our backs against unrelieved gloom. We sought shelter near lanterns for safety, or held torches aloft to illuminate the way ahead. Today, if the electrical power goes out, we rush to find a flashlight and are relieved to find the battery in working condition. Very few of us would choose to walk into a wood at night, or down a dark, secluded road alone. Not for a million dollars would most of us opt to spend the night in a house known to be ‘occupied’ by evil spirits. Nope. Whenever we sense something is ‘off’, we avoid the area like the plague, or turn on every light in the house, all to dispel that uneasy feeling of being alone in the dark. We do all of these ‘warding-off’ maneuvers, because we know in our heart-of-hearts, that wherever the Light shines, Darkness flees from it, physically and spiritually.
We know that if bad things are going to happen, they will most likely occur under the cover of darkness. Historically, walls were built around cities as a means of protection against hostile forces. The city gates were closed in the evening. Guards were posted to patrol the perimeter and watch over the citizens throughout the night. In one variation or another, this remains a precaution of most cities today.
In biblical times (BCE and AD), people were aware of the spiritual realm, of the existence of good and evil forces, and the influence evil forces had on the unprepared. They took measures to combat it daily. King David was probably one of the earliest to understand the advantage of using the Divine to be proactive against the infernal.
