We omit the Omer Count for today because:
Leviticus 23:16 is a Daily Count. The correct New Moon Day is a Monthly Count. It is never included in the Daily count towards the Shabbat.
Omit the Weekly Count on LCCD's and NMD, as both are Monthly Counts only. NMD's are Set-Apart unto Yahuah. No work is ever done on it.
The Weekly count is for mankind to order his work days, and to know when the Shabbat occurs.
The Monthly Count begins on NMD. It counts the days of the Lunar Cycle, Full Moon to Full Moon.
There are 2 Simultaneous counts within every month: Weekly and Monthly.
