The Natsariym: Keepers Of The Way

The Natsariym were the earliest followers of Yahusha, HaMashiach. Those having the testimony of the Resurrection of the body via direct observation as one of his Talmidiym, or through the evangelism of his Apostles. They were men, women, and communities who followed the Law given to Mosheh on Mt. Sinai, and spread the Besorah of HaMashiach’s coming. Like Yahusha, they did not deviate from Torah, but strove to fulfill it by walking the road he paved.

These were those whom Shaul/Paul persecuted, and who later became known as the Natsariym. These were those caught-up in Nero’s net (64 AD), and were tossed into the circus at the Colosseum. At that time, Nero made no distinction between Yahudiym, or Gentile believers; he persecuted anyone publicly identified as followers of the way, or were even associated with the ‘sect’ of Yahusha. In neither situation were these early believers persecuted for political reasons, or for breaking Torah (at least not at this point). Rather, they were persecuted simply for proclaiming: ‘HaMashiach is risen!’ Yahusha  prophesied it would be so:

MattithYah 24:10-13, Marcus 13:9-13, Lucas 21: 12-19, Yahucanon(John) 15:18-20 and 16:7-13, Lucas 21:18. Cepher Bible

There were also prophecies that uplifted and offered hope, which they knew of, from the Books of the Nevi’iym:

  • Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 11:1-2, The Branch.

  • YirmeYah (Jeremiah) 31:6, The Watchmen on the Mount.

  • YirmeYah (Jeremiah) 31:31-33, The New Covenant.

The word ‘watchman/men’ is both a noun and a verb. As a verb it is defined: ‘to remain vigilant, alert, and attentive to any potential threats or dangers…’ https://thecontentauthority.com

In ancient times watchmen stood upon the walls, or entrances of a city,  carried shofars, and ‘looked out,’ to warn the people of an approaching enemy. From a spiritual context, they ‘call-out’ spiritual threats against the righteous ones from forces seeking to corrupt. They stand in the breach between ‘good and evil.’ If you are a watchman you are also a trustee and guardian, commissioned to keep something most precious.
